The CealTec™ product line is a unique set of products designed to clean, protect and enhance many different types of surfaces. CealTec products work at the molecular level to enhance the surface characteristics of materials to which it is applied. Our scientists have created products using principles of nano technology. Nano technology, sometimes shortened to nano tech, refers to a field of applied science whose theme is the control of matter on an atomic and molecular scale. Generally nano technology deals with structures 100 nanometers or smaller, and involves developing materials or devices within that size (this definition is from Wikipedia and the hyperlinks refer to source webpages in Wikipedia). Our scientists have worked within the fields of chemistry and nano technology for many years and has developed succeeding generations of surface protection products, which have evolved into more effective and superior products over time.

When CealTec™ Hydrophobic Polymer (HP) is applied to a surface it is as if the laws of physics have been defied on the treated surface. Imagine a highly porous brick or concrete surface beading up water in almost perfect spherical droplets and the droplets not seeping into pores. CealTec HP actually alters the substrate at the molecular level to perform better than new and restructures it to have superior properties. Our polymer actually bonds electrostatically to a substrate and is indistinguishable from the material. Magic no, serious science yes and CealTec Hydrophobic Polymer is the best way customers can preserve and protect expensive surfaces. We refer to our products as Smart Surface Treatments (SST).

CealTec™ HP Products are formulated using our proprietary iso‐polmer and copolymer which provides a durable, water repellent and breathable surface treatment. The characteristics and benefits of CealTec Products are as follows:

Nano technology is a technology based on the manipulation of individual atoms and molecules to build structures to complex, atomic specifications.

While many definitions for nano technology exist, CealTec™ concurs with the National Nano Technology Initiative (1) definition, which denominates “nanotechnology" only if it involves all of the following:
Research and technology development at the atomic, molecular or macromolecular levels, in the length scale of approximately 1 - 100 nanometer range.

Creating and using structures, devices and systems that have novel properties and functions because of their small and/or intermediate size.

Ability to control or manipulate on the atomic scale.

CealTec's coatings are a patented process, they work at nano scale levels, at approximately the 30 nano meters scale. The change of the molecular composition of the silica-based surface created by CealTec's chemistry and bonding nano particles, along with the cross-linking, branching, and final ‘inhibiting’, enables the full efficiency of the coating process at an atomic scale.

The nano scale is about a thousand times smaller than micro that is, about 1/80,000 of the diameter of a human hair. Approximately 3 to 6 atoms can fit inside of a nano meter, depending on the atom. The prefix nano means ten to the minus ninth power, or one billionth. Nano scale technologies are the development and use of devices that have a size of only a few nano meters.

Nano technology has the potential to profoundly change our economy and to improve our standard of living, in a manner not unlike the impact made by advances over the past two decades by information technology.

Numerous products featuring the unique properties of nano scale materials are available to consumers and industry today. Nano technology is used in electronic, magnetic and optoelectronic, biomedical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, energy, chemical-mechanical polishing, magnetic recording tapes, sunscreens, automotive catalyst supports, biolabeling, electroconductive coatings and optical fibers.


(1) The National Nano Technology Initiative (NNI) is a federal (US) R&D program established to coordinate the multiagency efforts in nanoscale science, engineering, and technology. The goals of the NNI are to:
    - Conduct R&D to realize the full potential of this revolutionary technology;
    - Develop the skilled workforce and supporting infrastructure needed to advance R&D;
    - Better understand the social, ethical, health, and environmental implications of the technology;   and,
    - Facilitate transfer of the new technologies into commercial products.
